Interfathom has released TaskMerlin v. 3.0, an intuitive and easy-to-use Windows application that makes it simple to organize notes, tasks, and schedules, and share them with colleagues. Unlike other task managers that lock you into a fixed format, TaskMerlin offers complete flexibility for naming, structuring, and viewing your tasks. TaskMerlin’s flexibility makes it ideal for project and management teams’ collaboration, as well as for workers who follow David Allen’s Getting Things Done (GTD) workflow methodology.
The major new feature of v. 3.0 is TaskMerlin’s Calendar. Create a new appointment with a single click or keystroke. Quickly add reminders to any task or appointment. To reschedule an appointment, you can drag and drop it, or use your mouse to change its size on the Calendar. TaskMerlin’s new Calendar is fully integrated with Microsoft Outlook, and provides scheduling, appointment, and reminder functionality with fewer keystrokes and less work.
With TaskMerlin, it is easy to store, organize, manage, and retrieve information. This information can be as simple as notes and appointments, or as complex as multi-person, multi-year projects. You can track due dates, the person assigned to each task, its priority, and the time spent working on it. It’s easy to retrieve and display tasks based on these attributes, or on any text found in the task descriptions.
You can become productive with TaskMerlin in minutes. Create project folders, and drag and drop tasks into them. Modify status information and content in place, with no need to navigate menus or open additional windows. You can even edit multiple tasks at once. There are many pre-defined task types and status descriptions to choose from, or simply create your own.
Use the built-in editor to create task information, or copy and paste text and images. Add hyperlinks to related tasks and to web pages. All of your information is fully searchable, and you can sort and filter the information that appears on your screen. Choose from more than 40 columns of information that are built into TaskMerlin. When creating a new task, its name is the only required field. It’s simple to fill in additional information when it is convenient.
In the Professional Edition, all users can log into TaskMerlin, and update the fields that they have been authorized to change. Each user has their own password, email settings, popup reminders, filter definitions, and display options.
Whether you’re a manager who needs to track deadlines and deliverables with your project team, a GTD enthusiast who wants task management software that conforms to the GTD structure, or an Outlook user who requires a Calendar that is more powerful and more convenient than the one provided by Microsoft, TaskMerlin has the tools that you need.
TaskMerlin v. 3.0 runs under Windows 7/Server 2003 and 2008/Vista/XP/2000/Me/98. The Personal Edition, for use on a single PC, costs $49(US). The Professional Edition, with multi-user simultaneous database access, costs $99 for a single-user license. Multi-user discounts are available. Set to end the frustrations of all Windows 7 users who work with more than one monitor, Actual Tools has just launched a new version of Actual Multiple Monitors. It is the first multi-monitor management utility that provides the most complete emulation of Windows Taskbar on secondary displays.
The Taskbar is an integral part of the Windows user interface and has been significantly redesigned in Windows 7 with such handy features as Pin and Peek. But owners of multi-monitor Windows setups discovered rather quickly there were no proper tools to efficiently manage tasks on secondary monitors. Even the newest Windows 7 still does not provide a Taskbar for this scenario.
No Taskbar means it is necessary to drag the mouse to the primary display and back each time certain programs need to be activated via the Taskbar button. This is also the case when a new application is launched via the Start menu or a particular icon is accessed in the notification area. This “mouse shuttle” effect quickly annoys and distracts, greatly increasing the workload and mouse clicks which may lead to repetitive strain injury.
Actual Multiple Monitors 2.1 by Actual Tools is the first product on the market to offer equivalent implementation of the Windows 7 Taskbar on secondary monitors. When launched, the program adds a full copy of the main Taskbar onto each secondary display. Each Taskbar copy has a Start button, copy of the notification area, and shows live previews over the Taskbar buttons (with support for the Aero Peek feature). It provides the unique ability to pin buttons, which is the case with the main Windows 7 Taskbar.
“Efficient task management in a multi-monitor environment is impossible without habitual instruments,” said Michael Tretyakov, CEO of Actual Tools, “and our primary goal is to provide all multi-monitor Windows users with a task management tool fully identical to the main taskbar.”
In addition to the outstanding multi-monitor Taskbar, Actual Multiple Monitors has many other features to manage multi-monitor desktop in an efficient manner. An Alt-Tab Task Switcher is cloned on all monitors. There is a quick toggling of secondary displays on/off. The primary display can be assigned via the context menu of the notification area icon. A special button in each window’s title bar allows instant transfer of any window onto the required monitor.
Actual Multiple Monitors provides the ability to maximize any window to the entire desktop or implement horizontal/vertical maximization to its current monitor. It’s possible to store various desktop configurations as named profiles and switch between them in a single click. Furthermore, the current order and layout of desktop icons can be stored and fully restored.
All these features combined in a single product make Actual Multiple Monitors a must-have program for each and every owner of dual-, triple- or other multi-monitor setup. The streamlined product answers all the prayers of those running Windows 7.
Pricing and Availability
Actual Multiple Monitors runs on all Windows platforms since Windows 2000 (including 64-bit editions) and costs $29.95 (USD) for a single-user license. Discounts for volume buyers are available here http://www.actualtools.com/multiplemonitors/order/#volume_discounts . February 9, 2010: SoftAmbulance data recovery company announces the release of a new version of Partition Doctor, a solution developed for recovery of hard disk drive. It is able to recover partition tables, corrupted files, boot records and directory structure automatically, fixing much more than the built-in Windows tool and considerably more than competing programs. It is quite easy to check the effectiveness of Partition Doctor, as the free evaluation version provides full pre-recovery preview.
No PC is secured from occasional data loss, be that accidental deletion, mistaken formatting, virus attack or hardware crash. Though the Windows tool is intended to fix such problems, it is actually not effective enough. To restore as much data as possible one should use a really advanced and thorough recovery solution – for example, SoftAmbulance Partition Doctor, which is able to recover severely damaged hard drives, lost partitions and directory structures even after formatting.
What is remarkable about Partition Doctor is that it does not require any specific knowledge from the user, yet being able to perform difficult recovery tasks. The wizard makes the recovery process clear and intelligible even for an inexperienced user. Partition Doctor carries out automatic hard drive scanning, defines and shows recoverable files and folders. The user should only select what to recover.
By the way, Partition Doctor provides a high level of data safety: when recovering damaged disks, the program employs low-level sector scan. In addition to this, Partition Doctor can work with a virtual image of a disk, without accessing it directly – such safety measures guarantee that important data will remained intact.
Before purchasing a license it is recommended to check if Partition Doctor is able to recover your data. The free evaluation version supports full pre-recovery file preview.
What can be recovered by Partition Doctor?
- Lost or deleted partitions;
- Damaged or formatted hard disk drives;
- Corrupted or deleted files;
- Boot records;
- File, folder, partition and system structures such as NTFS, NTFS4, NTFS5, FAT12, FAT16, FAT32, VFAT, MFT and MBR.

I downloaded Driver Robot and installed it. Right after that I imaged my disk. It’s a good thing I did that too. I don’t think Dan was too impressed with Driver Robot.
