Take part in Cold War with Us & Them

[ Comments Off ] Posted on 03.17.10 under Games & Entertainment

Icehole Games is happy to announce the completion of its latest game “Us & Them – Cold War”, a serious strategy game about the cold war period.

“Us And Them – Cold War” is a turn-based strategy game about cold war. Although it is a game of territorial expansion, the rivals do not attack their opponent using military force. Instead they are using an army of Spies, Assassins and Experts of various kinds (like economy, technology etc.) in order to destabilize the enemy’s countries socially, economically, politically and finally to change their governments’ ideology and attach them in their own political block.

The players will have to manage resources like money, oil and technology. They must place their units strategically on the map and create a series of spy networks waiting for the right moment to unleash a series of sabotages, assassinations, bribes, revolutions, arrests and interrogations of enemy units. Since most of the units are hidden to the enemy, the collection and interception of crucial information about the countries, the units’ attributes and their whereabouts is essential for victory.

All units, as a representation of actual persons, have their own skills and attributes that make them unique and allow the player to connect with them personally, as they develop and get better and more experienced by the time.

A series of special rules will allow you to deploy special strategies like the “Domino Effect” and the “Communist sandwich” (as described by Richard Nixon) and to take advantage of great personalities of the time like Che Guevara, John Edgar Hoover, Mao Ze Dong, the Pope, Fidel Castro and others.

Also the players will be able to benefit from advanced technologies, using gadgets right out of James Bond’s laboratories and some famous equipment of real life spies.

Finally, the game features a series of random events that in the most part are real events well known to the majority of the public.

The game will be release from Audio Visual in Greece, Cyprus, Bulgaria and Romania, while icehole is still looking for publishers worldwide. It is available online at www.usandthemcoldwar.com

Sugar Games has announced the release of Matchmaker: Joining Hearts – the new hidden object game featuring a variety of challenges embedded into romantic story line. With its release timed to Valentine’s Day, the game instantly creates the perfect mood, bringing a player to the small seaside town where there are ten singles in desperate need for advice from an observant matchmaker.

An encounter with a new neighbor inspires you to start helping singles choose a partner employing your own highly efficient approach.

Not unlike a detective, you visit the single in question and the three candidates at their places – but instead of evidence you look for objects that may characterize their owner and use your observations to decide who will be the perfect match for your friend. To make sure the choice is right you will also have to spot identical objects in the rooms of the single and the potential partner, as they are bound to have lots in common. After the match has been found, you help your friend make an impressive gift and organize the perfect first date – each of the tasks featuring its own challenge, including searching objects by name and by shape and finding a right place for an item.

Hidden Magic: the First-Ever Hidden Object Game Featuring Battle Mechanics!

[ Comments Off ] Posted on 11.24.09 under ASP Member Companies, Games & Entertainment

November 24, 2009: Dekovir Entertainment has announced the release of Hidden Magic, a game that combines Hidden Object tasks and magic battles. The player needs to find necessary ingredients to cast spells and defeat the enemies. The battles alternate with puzzles and more relaxed hidden object tasks, which add new spells to the player’s magic book. Besides the unique gameplay, Hidden Magic is remarkable for good graphics, which makes the search process quite challenging, and for special effects of magic battles.

Actually, Hidden Magic is a combination of several game genres: hidden objects, adventure, strategy, puzzle, arcade and action. The plot of the game is the following: two magicians lived happily together on the edge of the woods, but one dreadful night a troop of goblins kidnapped one of them. The player chooses whether to play as the sorcerer or the sorceress and starts on a journey to rescue the kidnapped spouse. The only clue is the scattered map fragments left by the goblins, and the only weapon is magic (the hero takes magic ingredients, the cauldron, and the book of spells).

On the way to the castle of a Demon the player has to fight various enemies. In the course of a battle it is possible to cast spells using the cauldron and numerous ingredients arranged on the shelves. Below the shelves there are the lists of required items (e.g. Meteor Shower: grasshopper, black spider, gold nugget…9 items left), and the player must pick the necessary ones.

Sometimes the battles alternate with vague visions of magical places – a certain picture shows through the thick fog and breaks into pieces. The player should work out the puzzle to get to that place and complete a hidden object task to add more powerful spells to the book.

As for the graphics, all the sceneries and items are depicted in detail and thus contribute to the reality of the game. But the special effects certainly deserve special mention: each spell is shown with unique visual and sound effects. The perfect examples of special effects are the sparks of Thunderbolt, the flame of Fireball or the disastrous Meteor Shower.

Features:

- 60 battle challenges, 36 monsters and 21 powerful spells;
- Unique battle mechanics based on Hidden Object tasks;
- Adventurous plot;
- Advanced graphics;
- Impressive special effects.

Pricing and Availability

Hidden Magic runs under Windows ME/XP/Vista and costs 9.99 USD (7.99 EU). Further information on the product is available at http://www.dekovir.com/hidden-magic.html
